I'm wearing the pair of Frye Harness boots that I bought in the summer of 1987. They've been re-soled once (they had leather soles when I bought them) and I had to have one of the pull-up straps re-attached. They're still my favorite pair of boots, and still fit and feel great.

I ordered these after having no luck finding a 9 1/2 Fry boot of any width, let along medium. They felt too loose, and I had read a lot of reviews that recommended buying a size smaller. I boxed the first pair and ordered a pair of brown belted harness wides, figuring I'd keep the pair that felt best. The brown pair was snug, the black pair loose. Then I put the soles up against each other and they seemed to be nearly the same size. The brown was a tiny bit shorter, but not 1/2 inch. What the hell, I needed new black and brown footwear and I kept both, figuring I'd deal with the slightly bigger blacks. Someone had given me a pair of Frys years ago and they were big, but I liked them anyway. I wore both – each for a few days straight – during the next few weeks, and they must have shrank from the moisture in my feet. The blacks fit perfect, and the browns are a little tight. Not too much, but I would order to size if you order wides. I think people are writing reviews at other sites before they break in their boots. Love them. They feel awesome, better than any other shoe I've owned. Want 8-inch gauchos now

I purchased my Frye Harness boots at the factory store on Pleasant Street in Marlboro in 1967. I wore them through four years of college and then for the next five or six years while in the USAF. Sadly, after a year in the constant humidity on Guam the seams split and the leather began to rot. 44 years later I would enjoy a new pair. Need 9-1/2 4E. Are they available in that size? Incidently, my grandparents met in the 1890s while working at the Frye shoe factory in Marlboro.
