I EFFIN' LOVE THESE BOOTS. I had bought them originally for my recent trip to Ireland, as I was going during the first week of April, and the weather can change on a dime during that time (it was cold, but sunny the whole time, so I lucked out). I had wanted something warm and comfortable, and with a sturdy lug sole, as I would be doing quite a bit of walking, with most of it on uneven surfaces...
... I could NOT have made a better choice than these boots.
I wore them around my home town for a few days beforehand, to get a feel for them, and to see just how much break-in time they might need. I'm pleased to say that they were comfortable right out of the box, and no break-in time was really required. I trekked around Ireland for two weeks in these boots, and not ONCE did I encounter a single problem.
To give you a bit of the specs on me and my body build, I'm 5' 4", with very large calves (15 1/2" around). With skinny jeans, these boots were a wee bit tight around my calves when I first put them on, but I'm very familiar with how leather stretches, and so after one liberal application of Mink Oil and an hour, they fit like a glove.
I would recommend these boots to ANYONE thinking about purchasing them.
