Campus Stitching Horse

Here I am 38 years, yes 38 years after the fact - writing about my boots. I am the proud owner of a pair of Campus Stitching Horse boots - mahogany! I purchased them for $50.00 in 1974 and STILL wear them! I've had new heels and soles put on, but other than that and the occasional shine, they are still in great shape. I get so many compliments on them. Everyone deserves a pair of Frye boots!

Deets: Size 9, 5'5", calve circumference 15.25. I wear a size 9 in the Frye Paige Tall Riding, Veronica Shortie and Veronica Slouch. I've always wanted to rock the classic Campus boot but my ample calves excluded me. After reading product details and reviews for the Campus Stitching Horse on Zappos, I decided to take a leap of faith. I ordered the boot in Saddle. I actually dig the pair I received which is a richer tone in comparison to the picture online. I'd describe the color somewhere in between Saddle and Walnut. I anticipated the boot shaft to be snug given my measurements. I utilized the ol' plastic bag trick to get my legs into the boot and completely on. No slouching on the ankle typical of boots not getting over calves. The boot shaft was snug but not tight to the point of cutting circulation. I don't plan on bringing these to a cobbler for shaft stretching. I've been wearing them around the house and found that they're stretching and accommodating to my legs. The foot bed is true to size. There is *normal* slippage of the heel. I LOVE THESE BOOTS. I won't be getting these over skinny jeans within the next few days but with several stretch sessions, I'm confidant I'll be able to wear soon. Another plus, these boots are made in the USA. Great quality.

My husband bought me these boots for my 30th birthday and I absolutely love them! They're great with skinny jeans but also cute with skirts and dresses. The leather sole is a little slick for snow & ice but it just gives you an excuse to hold on tighter to your sweetie :)
