I got these boots in the Gaucho color about 8 months ago, they are my third pair of Frye boots. I got them in a sz 11 like my other Frye boots (Campus and Veronica). I originally planned to buy the Veronica Shortie, but when I tried these on I knew I was leaving the store with these. These are maybe one of the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. They are very loose (I think that is the style) but I like that there is room for me to add extra socks for the cold, or a little orthotic if I need. The soles of these feel a little more padded that than the other Frye's I have and the all rubber thick sole seems to absorb impact a little more. These are much more clunky and heavy looking than the veronica shortie was, which is something to keep in mind. I got the brown colour so it would not be quite as intimidating looking. I am very conscious of having very large feet and these help make them look a bit shorter. Since the ankle is not close to the body the foot part looks shorter. I have had other boots in this style and they felt huge when they had this effect, these do not. They seem to be well designed so the boot is not too loose on the middle of foot, but it is easy to slide on and off and has a looser look. They look very cute with festival/hippie dresses as well as jeans. They hit low enough and are wide set enough, so you don't get a strange stumpy look to your leg. These have held up well to a lot of wear (I live in a city so I walk multiple miles a day) and have gotten through a very snowy, slushy winter without being stained and destroyed. I would recommend these boots to anybody, but especially to ladies with larger feet as they do help make them look smaller.

LOVED these boots. I still love them, but now a little less. A warning to anyone treating the smoke color boots with mink oil (real mink oil, not fake pork fat): The original factory contrast between the toe and heel patina and the rest of the boot will disappear -- apparently forever (6 months so far, and no change). The patina is the reason why i chose the color. Now I still have pair of wonderful Frye engineers, but I might as well chosen a brown color and they don't go with my favorite leather jacket anymore. VERY disappointing. I know virtually any treatment will darken the color. I know it's far better to treat them than not. I did try the oil on an inconspicuous part of the boot. I'll get over it ...eventually. No knock against Frye or the boots. They fit about a half-size larger, and I have a wide foot and high arch. I love the engineer style, and I'll wear them for a very long time. Just a warning to others: choose your treatment for the smoke color boots VERY carefully.

I got these in brown and they are very nice. I wear a 7.5 in most shoes, but decided to order a 7 because some ladies said this boot runs long. I'm glad I opted for 1/2 size down from my normal size because these fit perfectly! I can move my toes comfortably. 7.5 would have been too long. The first time I put them on they were stiff, but after a few times they loosen up. I don't have thick calves, so I adjusted the top strap to the tightest hole, which for me, makes this boot even cuter. I almost got the vera short, but I am really glad I went with these because they are made in USA and go with everything. You can wear them with boot cut or skinny jeans, dresses, tights, or skirts. So cute and versatile. (Frye does not recommend putting waterproof or other products on the brown because it will change the color.)

These were my first pair of Frye boots! I was so excited when they came in the mail and I absolutely adore them. I got the black. They fit great, they look great with everything, comfy... my only issues are they in the beginning they did dye my legs black (not a huge deal) and one of them has stitching and a tag that scratches my leg till it bleeds if I wear them long enough... I put mole skin on it but it doesn't look super great as you can see it at the edge of the boot. Will be looking for a better fix. They're so well stitched that removing the tag isn't an option. Anyways, even with that I still adore them, and it's just the one boot so I think I got unlucky.

True to size in comparison to my other Frye styles. I got these in black and sand and am partial to the sand because they look better and better with more scuffs and wear. The black on the other hand has stained the ankles of my lighter color jeans. This is the only style of Fryes in black that has done that to my clothing. Otherwise, the boot itself is awesome and the low height makes it possible to wear these with skinnies or bootcut jeans.

These boots are stunning. Absolutely stunning. Seriously worth every penny I spent on them. I wear them all the time and they only get better with each wear. Also, these boots are Made in the USA!! I'm trying to only buy clothing Made in the USA, and these were at the top of my list. I wanted to support American jobs during this economy, so I pledged to buy only American made...and Frye did not disappoint with this boot!

Since I usually wear wide widths, I get an 8 in B widths and live with the extra length. The width on these is perfect, as is the length. Despite these being made from very thick, rugged leather, they were comfortable and not stiff from the first wearing. They're even cuter than the photos suggest, and look great and feel better everywhere - from a work site to the mall

I got these boots about a month ago and I love them. I wear them everywhere, they are so comfortable and go with everything. The best $208 ever spent! I have the black ones and one thing to be careful with is what pants and socks you wear them with, definitely avoid light colored pants/jeans because the black leather rubbs off on them. Overall they really are a great pair of boots and I know they will last me a long time

I wish I would have saved even a portion of the money I spent on shoes from Payless (most of which I couldn't wear) and had bought these boots only. They're wonderful. Super comfortable and look great. I love them.

Quite possibly my favorite boot of all time. Timeless, fit gets better and better with time. Easy on/off. The strap is helpful in getting a better fit around the ankle. Flattering even to those of us with larger calves from hard work and play! Takes a beating. Heels wear well...normally these wear quickly on the outside as I am a pronator, but these are holding up nicely. Works with everything from jeans to a hip suede skirt.
