An American classic done right.

"An American classic done right. This is a great shoe with great craftsmanship from the full grain leather to the chic design to the Goodyear-welted, replaceable sole. In every consideration, Frye has chosen to do things the best way possible, not cutting corners. The result is a fairly priced boot meant to last decades."

Boot is as advertised and

"Boot is as advertised and very high quality. The issue is with the sizing. Ordered a half size down and lengthwise they're correct- however the instep is extremely high, and they needed a very thick insole and multiple tongue pad inserts to adjust to the correct fit. Would probably recommend a full size down"

Bad for the price.

"For nearly a $400 boot they have really thin leather. I bought these by accident. I opened them up just to try them to see how they fit. I have been on a hunt for side zip boots that are Goodyear welted. I found the the 4 pairs of Grant Stone Elias boots which are 8”, 270 degree Goodyear welted, side zip boots. They offer 4 different leathers and I bought all 4 of them. I wanted to get another pair but with a more squared toe and I found this. I got them and I opened the box to try them on. The leather seems like the worst leather you can find. Maybe a level above “genuine leather” instead of full grained. The Elias boots have a much thicker leather and they’re lined. Not to mention the natural cxl and black cxl uses Horween leather. Can’t get any better than Horween. The Campus claims it’s Goodyear welted however, the leather is so cheap and thin I doubt they’d last long enough to resole. They look like they have a fiberboard heelstsck instead of leather. No midsole and the outsole is kinda weird. Not leather and not rubber. Anyways, since they’re nearly $400 I returned them because my Grant Stone Eliases are $450 but I can wear them decades. If you are looking for a side zip boot look further than this Campus. There are no redeeming qualities for this boot. I’m not even sure they’re MITUSA but could be."

Awful customer service & quality control

"I recently purchased a pair of these boots, and upon inspecting them after delivery, I was disappointed by the condition they arrived in. The leather had visible creases, there were scuff marks throughout the boots, noticeable markings on the soles beyond the styled markings, and the sole construction appeared poorly finished. For a pair of boots priced at nearly $400, this level of quality out of the box is unacceptable. When I contacted support, I expected Frye to acknowledge what appeared to be a clear quality control issue with transparency. Instead, I was immediately told the damage was from “transit”…. . . . despite the boots being clearly packaged and wrapped. Since I did not want to go through the full return process, I asked whether a partial refund could be offered. Their response was: “While the pair meets our standards for leather finish and outsole design, we understand your concern regarding the visible scuffs and markings on arrival. As a gesture of goodwill, we would like to offer a 5% partial refund. ” If this considered acceptable under Frye’s standards, then the criticism I’ve seen online about the brand’s decline in quality unfortunately seems justified. Overall, the entire experience was extremely disappointing. I’ll be returning the boots, and based on this initial interaction, I will most likely not purchase a replacement from Frye, nor recommend this brand to anyone I know. As a first-time customer, this experience gave me the impression that Frye does not prioritize craftsmanship, quality control, or customer satisfaction at all. For a brand with such a long history and strong (past) reputation, I expected much better, especially when it comes to customer service. I was genuinely excited to try these boots and the Frye brand, (despite other poor reviews online), but after receiving a product in this condition and then experiencing such poor support, I no longer feel they are worth the price. Having worked in customer service myself, I found the level of support offered for a quality control issue to be incredibly disappointing. Compared to my experience with Tecovas, whose support team went literally above and beyond to assist me, Frye’s support team felt dismissive and subpar at best. From just the customer service alone, I would honestly give this review 0/5 stars if I could. Someone else recommended the Elias Side-Zip Dune Chromexcel as an alternative, which I’ll likely try instead, given that Grant Stone’s support team and quality appear to be quite better. I would upload images of the described issues, but unfortunately, their add media feature does not work. For anyone considering purchasing from Frye, I would strongly recommend factoring in the high possibility of poor customer support before making a decision."

"These are all scratched up. Someone has worn these before but I bought them new. Scratches all over both and the soles were worn."

Boots are gorgeous, customer service not so much

"I’d had my eye on these boots for a while now and was waiting for a restock. Ended up buying the boots in my normal size (mea culpa) without adjusting, so when they arrived, I knew I was going to have to exchange them for a smaller size. Customer service then gave me the runaround, telling me that the size I needed in the color I wanted (9. 5, black) would not be restocked anytime soon (and would not be in production again). Offered me an exchange for an entirely different color - which, at this price point, especially since I wanted black boots, was borderline insane to me. Would not waive the return fee due to the stocking issue that was entirely on Frye, not me. Figured my only option was to return, so I started the return process, only to see the size I wanted mysteriously back in stock this morning? Because of the runaround I was given by customer service, I cannot and will not in good conscience tell people to spend their hard earned money on Frye boots."

I love the boot. They

"I love the boot. They are awesome. I am typically a size 10 1/2 wish I would’ve ordered a nine. The 10 doesn’t fit too bad just a little loose. I also don’t want to go through the hassle of the return process . Overall a great boot. Loved it. Thinking about wearing them in my wedding that’s coming up in a couple months!!!"

Sizing Problems

"Just a note to help other shoppers. . . sizing was way off for me. I consistently wear an 11D. I ordered a 10. 5 as the site suggested. The length was correct, but the rest of the shoe was enormous. I could easily remove my foot from the boot without unzipping. Very disappointed to have to return this beautiful boot."
