Leather is unattractive. Fit is

"Leather is unattractive. Fit is tighter than any of my other frye boots. Was on 'final sale' so I wasn't able to return this goose-egg of a boot."

Love’em

"After new soles, and new heels twice, my old pair finally bit the dust after about 25 years. I searched high and low for a new pair before finally going online to your site. I like a flat smooth sole, hard to find. Seems like all shoes and boots have ridges."

Heel Broke first wear

"I could not have been more excited for this boot. They look and fit fantastic. Unfortunately, I wore the boots for the very first time last night. When I was taking off the boot, the entire heel came off. No one has answered any of attempts to contact the company. I saved up for months to afford this 500 dollar product, than the first wear the heel came off completely. Sevral other of the 1 star review's have had this same exact issue with the heel. I need someones help please."

Bad Quality

"For 20 years I have been a customer of the brand and this is the first time I have had a complaint about the product. Both boots have the heel detached from the sole, attached by screws, which will come off in a short time. In addition, the left boot has a cut on the side. It is a pity that the product is so expensive and has come with such a poor finish."

New to the brand

"This is my first Frye purchase. I came across the Prison Boot style in an advertisement and immediately liked the look of the boot. I read the sizing reviews and they mostly pointed towards running a little big. I ended up buying my normal size and they fit perfectly. The boot is heavier than I was expecting and the leather was thicker. A very well made boot that should last a long time. I also like the style more than I did just seeing the pictures online. I’m happy with my purchase. ."

Still the best boots anywhere!

"Awesome boots, Made in the USA line which is their top/best. The best boots anywhere in the world (I've been around). Knew of Frye but out of price range for decades (in college and starting life decades ago). Have 2 pairs Arkansa model (similar style but a little more refined - Frye retired some years ago - the best Frye made). Still have them and use them regularly (over 15 year - had one pair refurbished by Resole America - Frye recommended/approved - like new again!). FYI I don't like or recommend all Frye boots (just the 100% Made in the USA line). PRISON BOOT (in brown) review: Equally great (the best Frye makes). Craftsmanship and materials are the BEST (will last a lifetime). If you truly love leather, then this is a dream come true. True to size, roomy but not designed for narrow foot, comfortable from day one and super well made (all features and details, top materials and components - none omitted), a little heavy compared to modern shoes, manly boots so natural heft! "Vintage" finish, very dark brown with trace of purplish undertone ("Orleans leather"). Used saddle soap to remove "vintage" finish, then dark brown shoe polish to tint some discoloration spots but kept matte/flat finish (sooo classy - look like $$$!). Once in a lifetime boots. If you can afford them, then don't wait and get them now while they are still available (unclear how long they will continue - world has changed/synthetic soft shoes is the standard now). I got mine!"

What could of been

"The boots came with a cut in the leather that was obviously repaired. I’m not sure why the QC thinks that’s acceptable for 400$ boots. Tried to do an exchange though they were out of my size so I returned. The fit seemed fairly true. I wear a 11b in Redwing blacksmith and I would say this boot is a little wide for my feet. Not a dealbreaker though time would tell how the boots fit and feel after break-in. The boots craftsmanship seems to be excellent."
